Migration to S/4HANA and GDPR implementation.
At the start of his keynote, Prof. Dr. Steinbinder covered current developments within SAP SE through to the concepts for efficient data management resulting from them. He emphasized that data archiving is becoming even more important as a result, particularly with respect to the implementation of GDPR, since a GDPR-compliant deletion of database data is only possible using data archiving. A further focus of the keynote was the enormous potential of the PBS solutions if there is the wish to consolidate inexpensively and efficiently the increasingly important topic of data analysis. Thus, for example, an extremely large volume of data can be analyzed extremely fast with the help of queries using the PBS Nearline Analytic Infrastructure (NAI) solution. Complementing this, the PBS solution OA4ERP additionally offers Business Intelligence analyses that each user can create easily and intuitively.
In the second presentation, Mr. Walter Steffen showed how exactly the smart implementation of GDPR with SAP ILM and the PBS add-on solutions looks. Furthermore, he presented a new tool – the PBS GDPR Analyzer. You can use this new, smart analysis tool to uncover all personal data in your SAP system in order to fulfill the requirements of GDPR.
Building on this, Mr. Ulf Steiner presented how archiving and retention management are implemented with SAP ILM using ContentLink – a component of the PBS GDPR package.
The joint presentation of Rüdiger Sinkel (REWE Group) and Walter Steffen (PBS Software GmbH) was a particular highlight. In a live demo it was presented convincingly how extremely fast a data and document query for archived and replicated application data is with the PBS Nearline Analytic Infrastructure solution.
In her presentation “Transition to S/4 HANA“, Ms Dagmar Fischer showed how this transition can be simplified using the PBS add-on solutions. The great advantage here is that archived data is migration-free. Ms Fischer also shared valuable, practice-based tips for migration and drew particular attention to PBS solutions that are useful when preparing a migration (PBS GDPR Analyzer, PBS Database Analyzer, PBS Access Monitor). She also presented the SAP UI5 app for the PBS Database Analyzer.
Mr. Jens Orhanovic (LIS.TEC GmbH) and Andreas Bein (RSM Consult GmbH) presented the OA4ERP solution that was developed jointly with PBS Software GmbH. With OA4ERP, operational data is prepared directly from the ERP system or from external sources so that agile analyses can be created quickly and easily. A particular feature when doing this, is that the usually time-consuming programming of complex queries no longer needs to be done by the IT department. Instead, users themselves can create their own analyses via a web-based user interface.
Dr. Christoph Bedau provided a current overview of the PBS nearline solution CBW. One aspect was the transition to BW/4HANA and the representation of the migration process for NLS. He illustrated schematically how queries are made on NLS data on BW/4HANA and explained the functionality of Smart Data Access (SDA) in this context.
SAP SE was represented by Dr. Peter Zimmerer and Mr. Roland Kramer. In their joint presentation they first talked about the general improvements in BW/4HANA. They explained how SAP SE can manage the constantly growing volumes of data in the BW environment with Data Tiering Optimization (DTO) and which steps the corresponding implementation concept envisages.
